Mayor's Update     Hello neighbor! It’s hard to believe we’re already halfway through the summer, but there’s still plenty of summer fun ahead including Grandfriends at the Teglia Senior Center, Movie Night in the Park, and South San Francisco Police Association’s Pickleball Tournament! Here’s your update for the week~   Stickers are here! Our new South City stickers designed by Mondrian Hsieh are here! Come grab your free sticker at the Library | Parks & Recreation Center. Check in with staff at any of our front desks, and be sure to tag us on social media (@cityofSSF) to show us where you’re placing your sticker. Share Your Ideas About Downtown Many of you have shared your ideas about improving our downtown area, and we want to know more! Take our brief survey to let us know how we can make our downtown better for everyone.   Thank you, South San Francisco Fire Department! Our firefighters have been busy responding to grass fires on Sign Hill and San Bruno Mountain as well as larger fires throughout the State. Like almost all fire departments in California, our department participates in the State’s Master Mutual Aid System, allowing departments throughout the state to provide and receive help whenever faced with a large disaster such as wildfires. This year alone, our personnel have responded to Healdsburg and Oroville, and are currently in Etna as part of a strike team assignment consisting of five engines and a leader. When our firefighters deploy, they commit to a 14 days assignment, working 24 hour shifts along side other departments from San Mateo County. To ensure South San Francisco is not impacted by these responses, all of our fire stations remain open and fully staffed, even with crews on deployment. We are grateful for our firefighters and the work they are doing to keep our community and state safe. We wish them safe and productive deployments and look forward to their return.   Happy National Parks & Recreation Month! Our amazing Parks & Recreation (P&R) staff were celebrated with burritos and decorations by P&R participants as a thank you for all the ways they care for our community.
