City of Los Altos News & Announcements

-------- MAYOR NEYSA FLIGOR'S MESSAGE TO THE SENIOR COMMUNITY DURING THE
PANDEMIC ------------------------------------------------------------

Dear Fellow Los Altos Resident,

I hope you are doing well, all things considered. As we reflect on the
unprecedented year of 2020 and prepare for 2021, I am reaching out directly
to our senior community to ensure the City is providing the right support
during these times. We know the last 11 months have been challenging for all
of us and heartbreaking for many who have lost loved ones, jobs, and homes.
Unfortunately, COVID-19 will still be with us into 2021. As I mentioned in my
Mayor’s remarks accepting the nomination, the City’s top priority for
2021 is to keep our community safe. To do so, we want to share with you what
the City has been doing in response to COVID-19 and we also want to hear from
you.

*Los Altos COVID-19 Programs and Resources*

Starting in 2020, the City implemented several programs, including the
following:

* COVID-19 testing sites in Los Altos
* Community Services Agency partnership
* Two COVID-19 helplines: Senior Helpline & Community Helpline
* Virtual Recreation Center with resources for seniors
* Virtual Get-Togethers
* Interactive Cable TV Programming

For more information regarding these programs and to learn more, please
call *(650) 947-2726*. For all COVID-related information, please
visit *www.losaltosca.gov/covid19
https://www.losaltosca.gov/citymanager/page/covid-19-resource-page*. The City
continually updates this page with the latest local and regional information.

*COVID-19 Vaccine Distribution*

The City is working with the County to distribute accurate and current
information concerning the COVID-19 vaccine to residents, including
participating in an ambassador program. Over 20 Los Altos residents have
signed up to be ambassadors, so more to come on that program.

As you may have heard, the COVID-19 vaccine will be distributed in phases and
there are different entities tasked with distributing the vaccine. If you
have health insurance, please contact your healthcare provider to learn more
about their vaccine distribution process and to also make an appointment when
you are eligible for the vaccine. If you do not have health insurance, then
please make your appointment with the County. Please note that large retail
pharmacies such as CVS and Walgreens are responsible for vaccinating
residents of Long- Term Care Facilities. For more information about the
vaccine distribution plan or to schedule an appointment with the County,
please visit *www.sccfreevax.org
https://www.sccgov.org/sites/covid19/pages/covid19-vaccine-information-for-public.aspx*,
or call *(408) 809-2124*.

Since widespread vaccination is not expected for several months, we must
continue to follow the safety guidelines, including only leaving our homes if
we need to, and if we do, wear a mask, stay at least 6 feet apart and wash
your hands frequently.

*COVID-19 Testing*

Los Altos and neighboring cities will continue to host testing sites
throughout 2021. Here are several upcoming dates and locations:

*February*

* February 9 | Assistance League of Los Altos (169 State Street)
* February 25 | Grant Park Community Center (1575 Holt Avenue)

Local testing site information such as how to schedule an appointment is
always posted to the City’s website
at *http://www.losaltosca.gov/covid19*. For additional COVID-19 testing
throughout Santa Clara County, visit *www.sccfreetest.org
https://www.sccgov.org/sites/covid19/Pages/covid19-testing.aspx*, or
call *(408) 809-2124*.

*Los Altos Virtual Town Hall*

Finally, I would like to invite you to a Mayor’s Town Hall on Tuesday,
February 16, 2021, at 4PM. While the Town Hall is available to everyone, I
want to make sure we cover issues impacting our senior community and hear
from you. We know that there is a lot of information being shared on social
media that may not be available to you or may not address your specific
concerns.

Information and registration for the Town Hall can be found on the City’s
website at *www.losaltosca.gov/townhall

questions, please feel free to send an email

safe and for your patience as we continue to stay vigilant into 2021. I wish
you all the best in the new year, and I hope to see you at the virtual Town
Hall.

Sincerely,

Mayor Neysa Fligor
