Mochi is a delicious food that can be enjoyed all year round, but it is especially important to celebrate the Japanese New Year.
Join us for our annual Mochi Pounding Workshop to learn how to make mochi and take home fresh mochi for seasonal celebrations ! A fun cultural experience perfect for families and groups.

- Mochi pounding technique: Experience the traditional ritual of pounding glutinous rice with a heavy wooden mallet to make rice cakes.
- The meaning of Kagamimochi: a New Year's decoration that is broken and eaten during the Kagamibiraki ceremony.
- Zoni: A festive soup for New Year's Day with mochi and seasonal vegetables.
- Making Kinako Mochi: Mochi baked and covered with sugar and kinako ( soybean flour ) for good luck.
Special guest will be invited !
George Yamada, a former manju (Japanese sweet bun) craftsman, will be invited to teach us how to make mochi.
You can also enjoy taking home !
